Proposal Submission

Using UVSOR

Applications for UVSOR use are accepted twice a year (with deadlines typically around mid-June and mid-December).

Depending on the beamline, applications may be submitted year-round, during the first half of the year, during the second half of the year, or on an ongoing basis.
Researchers affiliated with universities, national or public research institutes, or other research organizations, as well as individuals recognized by the director of such an institution as possessing equivalent research capabilities, are eligible to serve as application representatives; however, graduate students are not eligible to serve as representatives.
experimental station for your research project, the feasibility of the experimental content, and the experimental methods and use of available equipment. Please contact the faculty member in charge of the beamline you wish to use. (Click here for a list of members)
For details on actual usage, please refer to the UVSOR Facility User Guide (Japanese).
Submitted proposals will be reviewed in accordance with the Proposal Selection Criteria.

Applications for the First Semester and Full Year of Fiscal Year 2025

【Facility Projects for Each Beamline, FY2025】
BL4B:
Due to increased competition, we have discontinued the year-round application process. We have pre-determined allocation quotas for the number of weeks based on each usage category. If applications exceed the maximum number of weeks, competition will take place within that specific field.
Surplus weeks in each field may be reallocated to the “On-Demand” or “Other” categories if there are important projects requiring them. Allocations for single bunch applications will be deliberated with consideration for balance across fields.
Applications for the first half of FY2026 are being accepted as follows:
A) ARPES (4 weeks per half-year)
B) XMCD (4 weeks per half-year)
C) Other XAS, etc. (6 weeks per half-year)
X) Maintenance, Project Tasks, and Instrument Switching (4 weeks per half-year)
BL6B:
Relocation of SPring-8 facilities under consideration (FY2026 and beyond)
・Development of humidity-controlled sample cells
BL1U:
・Imaging of defect distribution using PET detectors
・Exploration of applications for spatio-temporal structured light
BL3U:
・Life science research using resonant soft X-ray scattering measurements
BL4U:
・Life science research using soft X-ray imaging measurements
BL5U:
・Development of spin-resolved ARPES
BL7U:
・Development for BL6U branching and beamline automation
・Development for automation and stabilization

Beamline strategies have been established in connection with the facility project and will be taken into account during the review. Please check the link.
